But she said she could not disclose the details due to national security reasons.

"The only undertaking we've given is to implement our policies, that is it", he said.

"The repeal of the "Medevac" Bill signals a return to unnecessary suffering and a permanent resettlement pathway for all those refugees in detention is now desperately needed".

Labor is demanding that Jacqui Lambie and the Federal Government come clean about the deal struck to pass the medevac repeal.

Senator Lambie has yet to speak in the debate being held this morning, but is expected to address the chamber shortly.

"I'm not being coy or silly when I say I genuinely can't say what I proposed", she told the Senate. "But when I say I can't discuss it publicly due to national security concerns, I am being 100 percent honest to you", she said, with tears.

It's understood the government may have agreed to send refugees from offshore processing to New Zealand after a similar arrangement with the U.S. ended.

Under the laws, refugees and asylum seekers were able to travel to Australia for medical treatment if two doctors deemed it was necessary.

"What I can say is that there has been no deal to change any policy on border protection or anything else".

In relation to the prospect of a New Zealand deal, he said: "the government is always looking at ways to resettle those who ore on Nauru". "I get that this vote will disappoint many, and I apologise for that". How many of those people have been sent back (to Nauru)?

And they petulantly got their way by striking some sort of clandestine deal with a loose unit moron sitting on the crossbench, the details of which aren't even being made available to opposition politicians, let alone the Australian public.

Leader of the Government in the Senate Mathias Cormann has moved a motion to force a vote on medevac laws on Wednesday.

'There is no secret deal.

"We should know about the Lambie deal".

"Someone is misleading the Senate about one of the most important pieces of legislation that has been before this Parliament".

Since 2013, the nation has despatched asylum seekers arriving by boat to detention centres on Nauru and Papua New Guinea (PNG).

It argued the legislation had been a "border safety" threat and was a "loophole" for refugee advocates to carry asylum seekers into Australia. An exception is a refusal by the Home Affairs Minister on character or national security grounds.

Opposition Home Affairs spokeswoman Kristina Keneally says the government has done a secret deal on repealing Medevac laws.
