Brendan Rodgers to Arsenal? Leicester City boss hints at release clause

He sparked further speculation yesterday when he suggested there could be a clause in his contract which would allow him leave the club, but has backed down on that this afternoon, reaffirming his happiness at the Kingpower Stadium.

Leicester are ahead of Manchester City and Chelsea FC in the Premier League title race, while the Foxes narrowed Liverpool FC's lead to eight points after their 2-1 win over Everton on Sunday.

Rodgers appeared to scoff at claims that he had practically invited Arsenal to inquire about him when he confirmed in a television interview that he has a clause in his contract allowing him to talk to any club willing to pay a potential release fee.

Brown praised his former gaffer and told Sky Sports News: "He's a fantastic manager".

Victory at Anfield - however unlikely considering better teams than the current crop have unsuccessfully come and gone since Kevin Campbell's winning goal in 1999 - would buy Silva and the Toffees board some much-needed time with the club now two points above the relegation zone.

"Like I said most managers' contracts will have something like that, but for me, my only concentration is Leicester". Everything's been great since we've worked together. "I have to be fair to the players - they are fighting, they are working really hard to get the results we need".

"My ambition at this moment in time is to help the club".

Leicester also have the best defence in the league, conceding nine goals and enjoying six clean sheets with a centre back pairing of the veteran Jonny Evans and 23-year-old Caglar Soyuncu ― the latter proving to be the biggest surprise.

"It doesn't annoy me".

The club have made tentative enquiries, but have been given the message that Rodgers is happy at Leicester and is going nowhere. It seems now you're talking about managers losing their jobs all the time and looking to be replaced. It's part and parcel of the job now.

After winning seven trophies in his two and a year years at Parkhead, the coach is on the shortlist for the Arsenal job following Friday's sacking of Unai Emery.
