Trump says next G7 summit won't be at his Miami golf resort

President Trump said on Saturday that the 2020 G7 summit will not be held at his Doral resort in Miami amid concerns of a conflict of interest.

"I thought I was doing something very good for our country by using Trump National Doral", he said.

Acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney had on Thursday announced that the south Florida venue was "the best place" among a dozen United States locations considered for the June 10-12 gathering next year. He insisted his workers had concluded it develop to be "a ways and away the handiest bodily facility".

He said that other locations, including Camp David, will be considered as venues.

Trump's suggestion of Camp David was especially odd considering Mulvaney dismissed the site at his Thursday news briefing as an especially poor summit location. "At the end of the day, you know, he still considers himself to be in the hospitality business", Mulvaney said.

"I was aware of the political criticism", he said.

In a series of tweets, he blamed the "Media & Democrat [s] Crazed and Irrational Hostility" for the cancellation.

Wallace pushed back on Mulvaney's original comment.

United Kingdom government adamant on Brexit deadline, despite another delay request
Johnson, at the very last minute on Saturday night, asked the Europeans for a Brexit delay, until the end of January 2020. Mr Johnson said he would introduce the legislation to Parliament early next week.

Trump is the first USA administration official to publicly float the selection of his property to host the summit, according to US media.

The vociferous criticism handiest intensified with Thursday's legitimate announcement, drawing huge condemnation from Democrats and even some Republicans. The annual heads-of-state gathering would at minimum have provided goodwill value to his property.

Watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington said on Saturday the initial decision to award the event to a Trump property was "stunningly corrupt" but the "reversal shows that pressure works". She has condemned President Donald Trump's now scrapped plan to host the G7 at his golf resort.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told CNN on Friday that holding the G7 at Trump's property was "completely out of the question".

The President has defended his decision to host the summit at the resort despite accusations from critics that he was using his office for personal enrichment.

First of all, as I noted on social media the other day, the idea of holding an worldwide summit in Miami in the middle of June is just absurd.

Mulvaney said the decision would save taxpayers millions because the resort would provide its services at cost. It develop to be unclear in the occasion that they were soundless into account.
