Telstra outage affecting banking services across the country

Telstra outage affecting banking services across the country

"We're now looking into an issue affecting services including Eftpos and access to ATMs", the company said in a tweet at 4:19pm AEST on Thursday.

It's business as usual for Australian banks and major supermarkets after a Telstra outage left customers unable to withdraw cash or pay at checkouts for hours.

Whilst the CommBank app and NetBank are still working, CBA ATMs and CBA EFTPOS terminals have well and truly carked it.

Shops using Comm Bank EFTPOS claim their machines are also down and are coming up with error messages, leaving them unable to process purchases.

The outage has also wreaked havoc at Caltex service stations and Woolworths stores.

"The cause of the problem is under urgent investigation", she said.

We'll be updating this story as we learn more.

"We're aware of a Telstra network issue impacting electronic payments in our stores", the spokesperson said.

"Our stores are continuing to trade as our teams are still able to process payments manually at this time", the spokesperson said.

Frank Lampard already has brought "something special" to Blues, says Cesar Azpilicueta
Lampard gave more minutes to players under the age of 21 than any other manager in the Championship last season, which proves his willingness to utilise them.

Payments, ATMs and eftpos across Australia have been knocked offline by a Telstra outage.

We are impacted by an issue with one of our telco providers.

"We're sorry for any issues caused and will provide an update when we know more", he said.

Update: CommBank has issued another tweet that seems to point the finger pretty squarely at Telstra.

"Some services are returning to normal and we thank customers for their patience".

Some users are reporting problems making eftpos transactions, but it appears the issue is with the connections to merchant payment terminals.

"We are aware of an issue affecting some of our services".

There is still no clarification around the cause of the outages or an ETA on when the problems may be resolved.

Westpac tweeted on Thursday night that the majority of branches, ATMs and services impacted were "back up and running", before thanking customers for their patience. Online banking is working normally.
