Barbie gets a David Bowie makeover

Barbie gets a David Bowie makeover

Toymakers Mattel have announced a new collectable doll inspired by his signature Ziggy Stardust Fashion.

David Bowie is getting all dolled up for the 50th anniversary of "Space Oddity", whether he likes it or not.

It's available for preorder now and due to begin shipping later this month, and its packaging includes images for Bowie's early career. The limited-edition collectible will retail for $50.

The toy manufacturer have released a series of pictures of the doll which comes complete with red hair, metallic jumpsuit and Ziggy make-up. It's a look, the official David Bowie Archive mentioned, that the musician wore during his 1973 tour.

Collins said the panel was "rolled" and is "having our legs cut out from under us by limiting the questioning". Matt Gaetz , a Florida Republican who sits on the Judiciary Committee, said on Fox News this week.

A year later, he released the album based on Ziggy Stardust, "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars", which featured the classic songs "Five Years", "Starman", and "Suffragette City". Bowie passed away from liver cancer in 2016 at the age of 69.

The design is meant to pay homage to Bowie who "was, and remains to be, a unique presence in contemporary culture" and "whose dramatic musical transformations continue to influence and inspire", according to a statement from Mattel.

While Barbie is typically geared towards kids, this new doll will no doubt attract an older demo of collectors.
