John Cena Joining Major Movie Franchise

In April, Vin Diesel, who plays Dom Toretto had hinted about Cena joining the cast of the film, however, Universal officially confirmed the same on 8 June (Friday) that the Blockers actor is a lock, according to Deadline.

Cena is following a similar career trajectory as Dwayne Johnson, going from WWE wrestler to "franchise Viagra" in movies.

There are only two types of people in the Fast & Furious universe: badasses and clowns. Hobbs & Shaw will see Rocky team with fellow franchise star Jason Statham in the title roles. But since Fast 9 will have a Dwayne Johnson-sized hole in it, I guess the movie needs an extra slab of beef to try to fill that slot. But if Johnson must sit out the next installment in the main franchise, Cena is as good a choice to replace him as any - in fact, better than most we could think of, given that he's diligently proven his talent.

While he's a big addition to the film franchise, one familiar face won't be there.

El blanco será, tal y como es tradición, el color predominante siendo el dorado el color del que se verán teñidos los detalles.

There's no word yet on Cena's character for the movie, but Deadline reports that his character is said to be a "badass" in the movie. We know, we know: John Cena?

Dan Casey will pen the screenplay from a story by Justin Lin.

Production will begin later this month for a May 22, 2020, release.
