James Gunn opens up on Guardians of the Galaxy 3 firing

Gunn has been quiet about his return, and his exit, ever since the original firing - but he's finally spoken out. You can read the rest of the interview with James Gunn over at Deadline.

"That first day, I'm going to say it was the most intense of my entire life". But this was incredibly intense. "It happened, and suddenly it seemed like everything was gone", he said.

Of the moment he'd found out he'd been fired, Gunn said, "It felt as if my career was over". He noted he felt, "I had absolutely nothing".

At the same time, I didn't know what I believed. "Should I be locked away?"

In the days since, things really changed for Gunn. Despite that, he appreciated all the support that the "Guardians of the Galaxy" cast showed him, including kind words from Chris Pratt and Sylvester Stallone.

As much as I wasn't reading the news, I was feeling the shrapnel constantly through all of the texts and calls from my friends and family who were so upset at this or that.

"When you asked me what was saddest for me when I thought it was gone - and anybody at Marvel can tell you - it's this very odd and attached relationship to Rocket", said Gunn.

La acción que inclinaría el trámite de juego a favor del Derby Country sería la expulsión del jugador italiano Domenico Bernardi . Sin embargo, por errores de su defensa se lo dieron vuelta 1-3.

The stars of "Guardians of the Galaxy" previously released a joint statement urging Disney to rehire James Gunn shortly after his firing. The petition was signed by over 430,000 people. "I certainly haven't been ideal in my spiritual journeys since that time, but I have been better", he added. For now, everything is looking good and Gunn is happy with the way everything went down. "Rocket is me, he really is, even if that sounds narcissistic", Gunn explained of his "very unusual and attached relationship to Rocket".

But despite being angry, he indicated he realized he should not be lashing out. I can't go through more deaths. I just completely disconnected from all of that. He specifically points to jokes that he made as well as the targets of his humor. "I wanted to feel that way about Disney". (Gunn was, and still is, a vocal critic of president Donald Trump and the Republican party.) The tweets, which made light of such incredibly touchy subjects as rape and pedophilia, were admittedly in extremely poor taste; Gunn took full responsibility for them, while apologizing profusely to those who had been hurt by his words and pointing out that he had grown a great deal as a person in the intervening years.

"I take full responsibility. I've always liked and admired him", Gunn said. "This wasn't a free speech issue", Gunn said. There was never any argument of that.

Gunn directed the first two Guardians films as well as co-writing 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy and writing 2017's Guardian of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

What do you make of Gunn's comments regarding his firing by Disney?

Of course, being fired from Disney initially meant that he would no longer get to work on Guardians, a series into which he'd poured a ton of time and effort.
