Demaryius Thomas is the Patriots' next reclamation project

Longtime Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas has signed with the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots, the organization confirmed on its website.

The Montrose, Ga. native then went on to make three straight Pro Bowls, with his best season coming in 2014 when he snared 111 balls for 1,619 yards while reaching the end zone 11 times.

The move reunites Thomas with offensive coordinator and former Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels. Between the two teams, Thomas finished 2018 with 59 catches for 677 yards and five touchdowns. Thomas was released by Houston on February 12, 2019.

The NFL has not yet released the full slate of games for the 2019 season, but the league has announced that New England will host the Sunday Night game in Week 1.

A 6-foot-3 threat, Thomas is coming off a 59-catch, 677-yard season split between the Denver Broncos and Houston Texans, and comes to the Patriots while recovering from a significant Achilles injury suffered in a December 23 game for the Texans.

The 31-year-old owned a five-year 1,000-yard receiving season streak from 2012 through the 2016 season.

Thomas split the 2018 campaign between the Broncos and the Texans, with Denver trading him to Houston midway through the season. He was injured in the regular-season finale and was placed on injured reserve for the playoffs.

Thomas has an additional 53 receptions and six touchdowns in his 10 career playoff games.

Jones, 25, is a veteran of three National Football League seasons with New England after he originally joined the team as a rookie free agent out of auburn on May 6, 2016.
