DeBrusk, Krug to play for Bruins against Maple Leafs in Game 3

DeBrusk, Krug to play for Bruins against Maple Leafs in Game 3

They were powerless to stop it. This is game three of a best-of-seven series, which is tied at one game apiece.

Saturday night's Game 2 turned violent with Boston's Jake DeBrusk and Toronto's Nazem Kadri engaging in several altercations.

"Every night you get a set of four officials (including linesmen)", Babcock said. "In the end that cost us".

Danton Heinen and Patrice Bergeron had the other goals for Boston, which flexed its muscle following Thursday's lacklustre effort.

Grabbing the win in game two was Tuukka Rask, who stopped 30 of the 31 shots that he faced. "It's real simple. The team that played the hardest won Game 1". We all knew that. "We were aware of it", Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy said. Attack when you have the chance.

The Jackets and Islanders have treated us well this postseason, as bookmakers have underestimated the two underdogs while also shading the lines towards the Lightning and Penguins because casual bettors will bet them.

Kadri, who was banned three games in last year's first-round series against the Bruins following an ugly boarding penalty, scored for Toronto four minutes before the final incident with DeBrusk that resulted in a five-minute major and a game misconduct.

The Leafs said going into this game that they didn't want to get pushed around by the Bruins and that's exactly what happened. "The initial reaction - never had something like that happen before so obviously you're always anxious, but, lucky enough, when I got back to the room I checked all the points on the checklist and felt good enough".

The Bruins came out of the gate with a objective, bludgeoning every Toronto player in sight and building a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes inside an electric TD Garden.

Officiating - Chris Rooney and Kyle Rehman will work Monday's game - was a hot topic in the morning.

"The only problem with Kadri's hit [on DeBrusk] is he didn't take the top f-ing row of DeBrusk's teeth out", Avery said.

"That first 10 minutes, they were physical, tried to make a statement", Leafs centre Auston Matthews said. "We weathered the storm as well as we could".

Boston then went ahead on another Toronto defensive miscue at 16:04 when Muzzin whiffed on the puck with his glove in the neutral zone. Pastrnak promptly fed a no-look-behind-the-back pass to Marchand, who slid a shot between Andersen's pads.

After getting nailed into the boards via a huge hit from Jake Muzzin, Bruins defenceman Torey Krug is thankful that he was able to avoid an injury.

All that being said, there are no big underdogs on Monday night. At the 14:03 mark of the third period, Kadri cross checked Boston Bruins forward Jake Debrusk in the throat area. Kadri is a repeat offender and obviously hasn't learned his lesson. "Kadri stayed down. That's his prerogative".

But Nazem Kadri was not there to experience it, awaiting what's expected to be a multi-game suspension after his hearing in New York Monday afternoon. In fact, Matthews now has just two points (one goal) in nine playoffs games against Boston.

"It's disappointing for Naz, disappointing for our team", Babcock said. "We've had guys out at times all year long".
