Tyronn Lue is 'strong frontrunner' for Lakers' coaching job

The Lakers parted ways with head coach Luke Walton Friday, after three seasons, following a 37-45 record.

While Walton's replacement hasn't been named, multiple reports - including Sports Illustrated and Cleveland's NEWS 5 - have surfaced that Ty Lue is the frontrunner to become the next Lakers coach. Walton and Divac were teammates in Divac's final National Basketball Association season with the Lakers in 2004-05.

Walton leaves the Lakers with two years remaining on his five-year deal.

"We would like to thank Luke for his dedicated service over the last three years".

The Kings have a ton of young talent and seem like an ideal fit for Walton, following his disappointing tenure in Los Angeles.

And Walton might not be out of work for very long.

Following reports, the Riverside County Fire Department arrived to the scene around 2 a.m. and contained the fire by 2:28 a.m. A fire reportedly broke out early Saturday morning at the music festival in Indio, California around 2:06 am local time.

Despite everything, the Lakers went 15-8 in their 23 games with James, Ingram and Ball all healthy.

Walton was hired by the Lakers in 2016 after Byron Scott piloted the iconic franchise to its worst season ever, a 17-65 train wreck in Kobe Bryant's final season.

The expectation is that Pelinka likely will speak to Williams on the phone or travel east to meet with him because the 76ers' first-round playoff series against the Brooklyn Nets just started, league sources said.

The 21-year-old UCLA product told reporters Wednesday his ankle was "finally starting to show some good progress" and that he hoped to get back on the court in a couple of weeks to begin offseason training. Johnson, though, said that his relationship with Walton was fine after the incident, which he considered overblown.

Luckily for Kerr, the state of the Warriors is the polar opposite of that of the Lakers.

As for the Lakers, it looks like they will be holding onto Pelinka. A season in which new-Laker LeBron James was expected to carry the team to their first playoff appearance since 2013. He took over after the worst season in franchise history, a season with only 17 wins.
