Bears Sign Safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix to One-Year Deal

The Chicago Bears are going all Crimson Tide on the back end of their defense for the 2019 National Football League season.

The Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers basically just swapped safeties from the 2018 season.

Clinton-Dix was selected by the Packers with the No. 21 pick in the 2014 draft.

The Redskins were believed to have wanted Clinton-Dix to return.

New reports rain serious doubt on the Earl Thomas-to-Browns rumors
The Giants now own two of the first 17 picks in next month's draft, which positions them to move up if they want to. His 288 receptions, 4,122 yards and 35 touchdowns all are records for a Giants player in his first three seasons.

Last season, Clinton-Dix had 27 tackles and three interceptions with three pass deflections in the first seven games of the year for the Packers before being dealt to Washington on October 30th. It will be worth $3.5 million, according to reports.

Per Garafolo, Clinton-Dix had "more on the table elsewhere". He has started 16 games in each of the past four seasons and has 14 career interceptions in five seasons.

New Bears cornerback Buster Skrine spent time with Clinton-Dix on Thursday morning, during the latter's visit to the Bears. An offer to return to Washington was among his options, but Clinton-Dix ultimately decided on the one-year deal with Chicago, an up-and-coming team coming off a division title. The brevity of the contract makes the move a low-risk investment for the Bears, who know they have to work out an extension for fellow safety Eddie Jackson next year.
