McConnell to call Senate vote on Democrats' Green New Deal

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) appears to believe that he can divide and embarrass the Democratic Party by rushing ahead with a vote on the newly introduced Green New Deal resolution.

"I've noted with great interest the Green New Deal", McConnell told reporters at a press conference on Tuesday.

Conservative talk radio host Brian Mudd says the Green New Deal is environmental socialism. However, it's received far less support and more pause from moderate Democrats while receiving criticism from Republicans.

"There's a lot of people now going back on the Green New Deal, they're like 'Oh it's impractical, oh it's too expensive, oh it's all of this, '" Senator Cory Booker (D., N.J.), one of the many Democratic presidential hopefuls, said during a speech in Mason City, Iowa Friday. The ambitious proposal has been spearheaded by Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Vermont Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders, who's likely to enter the Democratic primary soon, is also a supporter. Ocasio-Cortez has since disavowed the FAQ, which was posted on her website, and suggested her political enemies disseminated the document to sabotage the proposal.

"I would depend on the FAA and the other federal agencies that focus on air travel to tackle that question", Chandra Farley, the Director of Just Energy answered. "So I would vote yes, but I would also - if it got down to the nitty-gritty of an actual legislation as opposed to, 'oh here's some goals we have, ' that would be different for me". A number of Democrats in the Senate have either already declared their presidential candidacies or are expected to do so, including Sens.

But, confident that the calculated ploy will backfire on the GOP, climate groups and progressive lawmakers are telling the Republican leader: "Bring it on".
