Broncos to acquire quarterback Joe Flacco from Baltimore

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco (5) walks off the field following the overtime loss to the Cleveland Browns at FirstEnergy Stadium. That adds more financial obligation to the position, and a short-term bottleneck that would likely prevent the rookie from gaining meaningful reps in game situations.

It is Lamar Jackson's team now in Baltimore and according to Adam Schefter, the Broncos and Ravens have agreed to a trade.

Flacco's finest moments came at the end of the 2012 season as he threw 11 touchdowns and zero interceptions in the postseason to guide the Ravens to a Super Bowl XLVII title.

The trade becomes the latest attempt by John Elway, the Broncos' chief front office football executive and former Hall of Fame quarterback, to solve the team's quarterback dilemma.

The decision to trade Flacco shows the team's commitment to quarterback Lamar Jackson who was the team's first round pick previous year.

Case Keenum With no one on the roster capable of serving as a starting quarterback in the NFL, Keenum signed a two-year deal with the Broncos in March of 2018 after a breakout year as a starter in Minnesota.

Flacco has three years remaining on his existing deal, and will earn $18.5 million in base salary in 2019 unless he reworks his contract. He is to be paid $18.5 million next season, $20.25 million in 2020 and $24.25 million in 2021.

Now six seasons removed from that Super Bowl victory, Flacco has proven to a capable but uninspiring option under center.

The Broncos also have the No. 10 pick of the draft, with picks in the upper third of the second and third rounds as well. The Broncos went 6-10 in the 2018 season and missed the playoffs.

According to Schefter, the Ravens will get a mid-round pick for Flacco, something confirmed by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

How much of an upgrade will Flacco be over Keenum for the Broncos?
