Comedian and co-creator of ‘Rel’ Kevin Barnett dies at 32

Barnett was believed to be in his early 30s, but there are no details regarding the cause of death at publish time.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of our friend and client Kevin Barnet. "We send our thoughts and prayers to his friends and family during this hard time". Barnett also made appearances in the shows he wrote, in addition to brief cameos in Dumb and Dumber To.

With Robinowitz, Barnett previously wrote a comedy project for NBC as a starring vehicle for the duo, who previously served as executive producers, head writers, and cast members of TruTV's sketch series Friends of the People.

Tributes have poured in for the stand-up comedian after his death was confirmed by Ben Kissel, who co-hosted the podcast Round Table of Gentlemen with Barnett, on Tuesday.

Kevin's career was just starting to get big when he died, considering he recently worked on the aforementioned series, REL, along with Josh Rabinowitz and Lil' Rel Howery. He also appeared on HBO's amusing as Hell and in Chris Rock's Top Five.He also co-hosted podcast Round Table of Gentlemen with Ben Kissel for Last Podcast Network, which tweeted about his demise.

Brooks Wheelan tweeted, "I texted Kevin a few years ago out of the blue "wanna go to Hawaii" and he's the only person I've ever known who would just respond 'let's do it.' This photo was the next day".

Kenny and Keith Lucas, who are known in the comedy world as The Lucas Brothers, also took the time to grieve after learning of Barnett's passing. You were a comedic savant. So gifted and so dope and a true friend!

In a separate Instagram post, he added, "At 32 he accomplished so much in this business and was respected by many..."
