Oscars to have no host this year

Instead, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which issues the awards, will go with different celebrities introducing each segment.

Looks like the Academy Awards couldn't find a replacement fast enough for Kevin Hart, who stepped down from hosting the ceremony after some old homophobic tweets resurfaced online.

There had been rumours as to who might take his place, but on Wednesday night, Variety reported that for the first time since 1989, the Oscars ceremony will go ahead without a host.

Hart will not be returning to host the Oscars and has emphatically said so.

(Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/The Hulk), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) and Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) assembling on stage.

This was not the first time the Oscars had no host.
