Sanders tears Achilles in Broncos practice

The Broncos are lurking as a potential sleeper in the AFC playoff hunt, but Denver's offense suffered what could be an enormous blow on Wednesday afternoon as Emmanuel Sanders suffered a lower leg injury and was helped out of practice. This season, he's been Denver's top pass catcher with 71 receptions, 868 yards and four receiving touchdowns - all of which are team highs.

First, star cornerback Chris Harris Jr. went down early in a win over the Bengals last Sunday. He avoided going on IR, however, unlike offensive linemen Matt Paradis, Ronald Leary and Max Garcia and tight ends Jake Butt, Jeff Heuerman and Troy Fumagalli. There are simply no players available right now who can do the same types of things he can do.

In serious cases, it can cause inflammation of the heart and brain in addition to direct injury to the lungs themselves. Flu symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, muscle and body aches and fatigue.

We're still waiting for a true breakout game from Sutton, and if it doesn't happen now, that will be a shock. The Broncos also have receiver Chad Hansen on the practice squad. The Broncos will place him on injured reserve later Wednesday.
