At this time, Disney has not said when this Star Wars TV series will go live, but it seems casting is underway.

The native of Santiago, Chile, is in final negotiations to star in the series, which chronicles the lone-wolf odyssey of a character who hails from the planet Mandalore, which Star Wars fans know as the homeworld of the notorious bounty hunter Boba Fett and Jango Fett.

Favreau is also executive producing the show, along with Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson. Taika Waititi, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rick Famuyiwa, and Deborah Chow have also been attached to direct episodes of the series.

Set in the 20-some year gap between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, The Mandalorian is spearheaded by writer/director Jon Favreau. Karen Gilchrist will serve as co-executive producer.

The 10-episode first season will reportedly have a combined budget of $100 million, making each episode worth $10 million.

The Mandalorian is slated to run on Disney+, but a premiere has not yet been scheduled. It has also been announced that Disney is now developing multiple limited series featuring characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe for their upcoming streaming service.
