Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Hospitalized After Fall

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was hospitalized after she fractured three ribs from a fall in her office, the Supreme Court announced on Thursday.

Ginsburg, 85, initially went home after the accident, which occurred in her Supreme Court office. She has had two bouts of cancer, one colorectal and the other pancreatic, but she has never missed an argument session on the bench. Barbara Boxer wrote. Boxer was a member of the Senate when Ginsburg was first nominated to the court by former President Bill Clinton in 1993. The injury prevented her from attending an investiture ceremony for newly appointed Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway said Thursday that Ginsburg is "a very tough woman" and that she's "praying for her".

The justice's recent fall has once again sparked concerns for her health and worries about the prospect that the Supreme Court could tilt even further to the right. She later apologized for what she said were inappropriate remarks. She is also a cancer survivor and returned to work less than three weeks after having surgery.

Evacuations ordered as fast-moving "Camp Fire" grows in California
The hospital is in Paradise, a town of about 27,000 people 180 miles (290 kilometers) northeast of San Francisco. The Chico Enterprise-Record reports that a retirement home and Ponderosa Elementary School were also evacuated.

"I'm now 85", Ginsburg told the New York Times.

Recently, she's become a cultural icon among progressives, being featured in everything from clothing to books and movies - and commonly referred to by her initials, RBG.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg fell in her office at the Court last evening. Over the summer, she admitted that she planned to serve on the Supreme Court for at least five more years.

Following the press release of Ginsburg's accident, Twitter users were quick to have their crushing reactions heard.
