Here's a timeline for a Florida voting recount

It appears Florida's senate contest as well as the gubernatorial race between Republican Ron DeSantis and Democrat Andrew Gillum may be headed to a recount with DeSantis's victory margin slipping below half a percent as votes from Democratic-leaning Broward and Palm Beach counties continue to flow in.

The Gillum statement said that since the concession speech "it has become clear there are many more uncounted ballots than was originally reported".

The campaign says it's monitoring the situation and preparing for a possible state-mandated recount.

The official notice for a recount in either race would come from Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner, a Scott appointee.

Should that count show DeSantis with a margin of less than 0.5 percentage points, triggering a recount, AP will retract its call for DeSantis.

In the Senate race, Scott clung to a 21,986-vote lead, or a difference of 0.27 percentage points.

If the threshold after this second round of returns drops below 0.25 percent, however, then the state can order a manual recount for federal and state races.

Recounts are the talk of Florida politics today, with the races for U.S. Senate and Florida Agriculture Commissioner - as well as a smattering of smaller races - all within a razor-thin margin.

It's not the first time Broward County has violated rules and regulations in an election, either. "We are committed to ensuring every single vote in Florida is counted".

A crisis intervention specialist was called to his house and talked to him, but left without taking him into custody, Dean said. Authorities and witnesses say the gunman wore dark clothing and didn't say anything as he fired inside the bar.

Elias pointed to significant numbers of ballots not yet tabulated in Broward County, where even Broward Elections Supervisor Brenda Snipes said Wednesday night, "I can't give you an exact number". (Damaged ballots are duplicated so they can be re-scanned.) Counties with electronic voting machines compare the number of total votes cast according to the machines with the total vote count that the county initially reported. Osceola County Gillum volunteer Susan Wills said the secretary of state's office had not yet released information about the provisionals early Thursday afternoon.

Provisional ballots are given to voters who don't have proper ID or whose names don't show up on the rolls at the precinct. The deadline to cure provisional ballots is 5pm Thursday, but campaign officials expect that to be extended by a few days.

"Voters in white working-class areas are becoming more conservative - and hard-line conservative - and more Republican-aligned", Isbell said". "Nelson is going to be declared the victor", Elias said.

The Florida senate campaigns were one of the most expensive this election season, with over $96m (£73m) spent in total.

Both political parties, and voting groups are now pushing to find people who cast provisional ballots throughout Florida to get them to submit whatever information is needed to fix, or "cure" the ballot.

Rick Scott, who has said the results in his U.S. Senate race was made final when he declared victory on Tuesday, said in a statement on Thursday that it's "sad and embarrassing that Bill Nelson would resort to these low tactics after the voters have clearly spoken".

Election officials in other Florida counties may have disclosed the identities of which voters cast provisional ballots, however.

When additional ballots began narrowing DeSantis' margin of victory on November 7, Gillum tweeted: "I'm looking forward to seeing every vote counted".

"Let's be clear: When Elias says 'win, ' he means 'steal, ' " Scott's campaign said. Folks who lived through the 2000 election are going into dissociative fugue states.
