Here's 'Veep' Reason Julia Louis-Dreyfus Went Public With Cancer Fight

In 2017, Julia Louis-Dreyfus announced that she was diagnosed with breast cancer; now, just over a year later, the Veep star is opening up about what she learned from her battle with breast cancer.

ET's Kristine Johnson spoke with the 57-year-old actress on the red carpet in NY, as Saks Fifth Avenue celebrates the 20th Anniversary of Key To The Cure, an annual charitable initiative to fight cancer, and she explained why she took her fight against cancer into the public spotlight.

"I very much considered the notion that, as someone battling this disease, the idea that I might not have health insurance, which I do thanks to my great union, is completely terrifying", she said.

"Originally, I'll be honest with you, something like this journey I'd been on, I normally wouldn't share such a private thing publicly", Louis-Dreyfus shared. "I embraced that and got a lot of positive feedback". "I was really pleased with the reaction". Production was halted as she underwent treatment that included chemotherapy and surgery. The clip involved the pair enthusiastically lip-syncing to Michael Jackson's classic hit "Beat It".

Trump threatens to close border to Mexico
If Trump pulls out of the trade deal or closes the border, there would be major economic implications for both countries. On the Mexico side, the border post is guarded by a heavy security force and tall metal gates.

In the summer of 2018, Louis-Dreyfus began shooting the seventh and final season of "Veep."

Aside from her work on Veep, she's also undertaken some new charitable endeavors, including working with Saks Fifth Avenue as their Key to the Cure ambassador. "I had to tell everybody what was going on", she explained.
