Kershaw's strong outing lifts Dodgers to 3-2 NLCS lead

It wasn't until the bottom of the fifth inning that Los Angeles struck back. The only run came around in the third inning when Lorenzo Cain hit an RBI double to center field.

Los Angeles starter Rich Hill went five innings, giving up one run on three hits with three walks and six strikeouts.

"Obviously I'm not going to change, I'm not the type of player that's going to be 'Johnny Hustle, ' and run down the line and slide to first base and ... you know, whatever can happen". The Brewers will counter with left-hander Wade Miley, who held the Dodgers scoreless over 5 2/3 innings in Game 2.

The Dodgers struck out 17 times - all against Milwaukee relievers - and have whiffed 49 times in the series. That's just not my personality, that's not my cup of tea, that's not who I am. Taylor, however, wasn't done.

"I don't know if it was that much, just a little bit better execution maybe", Kershaw said of his repertoire.

"We're back tied, the series is tied, and we're looking forward to tomorrow", he said. "I wanted to be aggressive". We'll have a Game 7.

The Dodgers had runners at the corners in the eighth against hard-throwing Josh Hader, who pitched for the second consecutive day.

Manny Machado has been making quite the name for himself and that may not be a good thing. "That's what he brings to this ball club and that's what we're going to need if we want to win".

"Everybody in the organization would have been thrilled at the beginning of the year if you would have said, 'You have to win two games at home to go to the World Series, '" Ryan Braun said.

Austin Barnes was probably the last person Dodgers fans thought would help their team win a postseason game.

"I think we gave each other a big hug", Bellinger said.

Manager Dave Roberts says he isn't thinking about Kershaw's future with the team. With Kershaw due up next, Puig was standing in the on-deck circle to possibly bat for him, and Alex Wood was warming up in the bullpen.

Brandon Woodruff lasted longer than any Brewers pitcher, striking out eight over 5 1/3 innings.

The best-of-seven NLCS is now tied 2-2 with Game 5 on Wednesday afternoon at Dodger Stadium. "So it wasn't a huge lobby on my part, but very thankful that Barnes came up huge right there for us".

The Dodgers were crowned division champions for the sixth straight season and are in the NLCS for the third straight October, but the franchise still is searching for its first World Series title since 1988. "And a true sign of a major leaguer that lasts and excels is that you have to be able to adapt because eventually physical skills change, the league adjusts to you, and you've got to be able to make adjustments back and kind of learn on the fly". "And it's been a long time since we've won one".
