Voter Registration Spikes After Taylor Swift Pro-Democrat Instagram Post

Taylor Swift's political Instagram statement had an impact on voter registration!

After 24-hours and almost two million Instagram likes later, Vote.org said Tennessee voter registration jumped 65,000 in a day.

And it appears Swift's appeal worked-vote.org was flooded with new registrations across the country in the 24 hours after the singer uploaded her post.

Swift, who has 112 million followers on Instagram, encouraged her fans to register to vote.

The site is said to have also experienced a significant increase in traffic since Swift's post with 155,940 unique visitors in the last 24 hours - a figure second only to the 304,942 unique visitors who visited the site on September 25, National Voter Registration Day.

The singer took to Instagram Sunday to say she will vote for Phil Bredesen for Tennessee Senate and Jim Cooper for House of Representatives, and specifically opposed incumbent senator Marsha Blackburn.

"Thank God for Taylor Swift", Guthrie said. "Let's say that I like Taylor's music about 25% less now".

Swift is now on a world tour to support her top-selling 2017 album Reputation, and will perform live at the American Music Awards show in Los Angeles on Tuesday. I can not vote for someone who will not be willing to fight for dignity for ALL Americans, no matter their skin color, gender or who they love.

"I can not vote for someone who will not be willing to fight for dignity for ALL Americans, no matter their skin colour, gender or who they love", she said. "Happy voting", she wrote.

"Marsha Blackburn is doing a very good job now in Tennessee".

"Please, please educate yourself on the candidates running in your state and vote based on who most closely represents your values", she said.

"I always have and always will cast my vote based on which candidate will protect and fight for the human rights I believe we all deserve in this country", she wrote. As much as I have in the past and would like to continue voting for women in office, I can not support Marsha Blackburn. She believes businesses have a right to refuse service to gay couples.

Swift said in her comments that while she typically tries to support women running for office, Blackburn's voting record "appalls and terrifies me". "But people would still rather believe that she is the one who is pushing Trump's agenda".

Of the roughly 240,000 people who have registered on Vote.org for the upcoming midterm elections on November 6, almost half, or about 102,000, are between the ages of 18 and 29, the website found.
