Video shows Harvey Weinstein inappropriately touching woman

A new video of a business meeting between Harvey Weinstein and a woman who has accused him of raping her shows him hitting on the woman and appearing to touch her inappropriately - just hours before the accuser says he raped her in a hotel room.

The frankly disturbing footage, shows Weinstein acting incredibly inappropriate, propositioning the woman, and caressing her.

Weinstein is heard in the video saying he wants to meet her later for drinks at a nearby hotel lobby. When she replies, "we'll see, a little bit", Weinstein says he won't. Later footage shows Thompson re-adjusting the angle of her laptop so that she and Weinstein would remain on camera even as he beckoned her to a different part of the room. She says it was standard protocol for her to record meetings, and the video for this one is unsettling. "It's okay. Would you like to do it some more?"

She replies: "A little bit... a little high, that's a little high, that's a little high".

At one point on the recording, Weinstein reaches under a table and appears to move his arm up her leg.

Ms Thompson said she was under the impression it was to close the deal but instead she claims he lured her to his room and raped her. Weinstein ignored it, instead grabbing the woman in a hug and rubbing her back. According to Vice, Weinstein quickly agrees to use Thompson's company's technology, and then he tells her, "You're hot".

Weinstein, who wasn't even supposed to be at the meeting, denies that any non-consensual act took place.

However, the film showed only Mr Weinstein at the meeting, telling staff not to interrupt before closing and locking the door.

Thompson told Sky News that she did feel she ever encouraged Weinstein's advances and felt that he was playing a game of "cat and mouse" with her to test her limits and identify her vulnerabilities.

Brafman said the video shows "casual, if not awkward, flirting from both parties". They include: film actress Rose McGowan, who said Weinstein raped her in 1997 in Utah; "Sopranos" actress Annabella Sciorra, who said he raped her in her NY apartment in 1992; and the Norwegian actress Natassia Malthe, who said he attacked her in a London hotel room in 2008.

"We don't have to live with being raped when we think we are going to a business meeting", Thompson told Sky.

Along the way, she said, he rebuffed her attempts to fight or get away.

"Anything short of that is meant to make Mr. Weinstein appear inappropriate and even exploitative", lawyer Ben Brafman said. Thompson is a major player in the class action lawsuit against the fallen producer. "This is a further attempt to publicly disgrace Mr. Weinstein for financial gain, and we will not stand for it".

Harvey Weinstein is escorted in handcuffs into the State Supreme Court after on Monday for arraignment on charges alleging he committed a sex crime against a third woman on 9 July 2018 in New York City.
