Scott in shoot-out with Koepka and Woods for PGA Championship

Brooks Koepka opened up a two-shot lead heading into the final round of the PGA Championship, as Tiger Woods stayed in contention at Bellerive.

Good morning and welcome to the Wide World of Sports coverage of the final round of the US PGA Championship from Bellerive Country Club in St Louis, Missouri.

After failing to hit a fairway in regulation on the front nine, the four-time PGA Championship victor needed only 10 putts in an extraordinary display of scrambling. He shot 4-under 66 to reach 8 under.

Friday morning at the PGA Championship was a thrilling spectacle for golf fans, as Brooks Koepka and Charl Schwartzl each shot 63 and Kevin Kisner came up one shot shy of the mark.

Woods, ranked 51st, won his most recent major title at the 2008 US Open and has not won any event since the 2013 WGC Bridgestone Invitational but showed solid form last month by leading Sunday on the back nine at the British Open.

Woods had missed only one putt through his first eight holes. Playing together too, you think they could get it right, but I ... guess we're built pretty similar.

Woods failed to convert on both, despite having given himself excellent chances.

Justin Thomas had a 7-footer for birdie at the ninth to take the outright lead at 12 under.

Woods' driver has put him in some precarious spots throughout his final round at the PGA Championship, but Woods has managed to get up-and-down nearly every time. "And I made sure I did on 17. And I blew it by 4 feet and then pulled the next one". That would go such a long way for everyone. He said there have been no physical issues since the week began with him taking ice baths to combat swelling.

"It's not necessarily the physical, it's mentally grinding that hard for 29 holes in this heat, " he said.

Then we need to build and create by the way. "For that maybe also they are in the team more leaders who show this capacity". "We spoke also Petr did a very good pre-season, also today I think he played good also".

Three-time major victor Jordan Spieth, needing only the PGA to complete a career Grand Slam, opened birdie-birdie but took a double bogey at the par-3 sixth then followed that with three consecutive birdies. My results look a lot worse than what it has felt. "It was like turning back the hands of the clock", said Cink, who's also at eight under for the tournament. "Being in Tiger's group is always exciting".

"I thought, it's probably Tiger's last time coming to St. Louis, so I might as well go all out", Brown said. "I'm getting a lot of support, which is nice".

But Woods could turn it only so far.

In the third round, Finau made four birdies and three bogeys. He finished with 10 consecutive pars. Woods hit 10 of 14 fairways and 15 of 18 greens. It's great to have your brother on the bag, your dad out there watching and you're going and competing in the final round of a major.

There, he needed some help from the leaders to make it interesting, and the same might be required here.

Woods had a similar outlook after his round: "Not just myself, but everyone's going to have to shoot low rounds".

You need only to see the tail to understand why.

Woods, whose earlier charge on the easier front nine raised the massive gallery's excitement to fever pitch, was among a logjam of six trailing by four shots.

Woodland's approach at the par 4 found a greenside bunker and he blasted his next shot into a bunker behind the green.
