Cristiano Ronaldo scores on Juventus debut, but his side falls 3-2

Cristiano Ronaldo collects the ball from the goal in his first game for Juventus.

"An exciting day in a special place that tells the winning story of Juventus", Ronaldo wrote on Twitter after the game.

The town's bars and restaurants were heaving with fans and media hours before the match's 1700 (1500 GMT kick off, 6pm EAT), with fans in replica kits wrapped in scarves and flags arriving to see the five-times Ballon d'Or victor take part in one of Italian football's most curious traditions.

Cristiano Ronaldo did not disappoint as he pulled on a Juventus shirt for the first time, scoring in the team's annual friendly against the club's youth side.

"I've been coming here since I was 12 years old back in the 1960s, when (Gianni) Agnelli would arrive here in a helicopter", he said. When you play the Champions League quarter-finals against Juventus, you can see signs and the whole stadium applauds you, it's incredible!

After he had finished with his autograph duty, Ronaldo put his game face on and only took eight minutes to score his first goal in black and white.

Interest in Juve and in Italian football has spiked following Ronaldo's arrival.

With just a week to go until the Serie A season kicks off, Ronaldo will have wanted to work off the rustiness on the field, and he had the chance to do so against the Juve B-team.

Paulo Dybala then got himself a brace - his second a tap-in on the rebound after Loria failed to keep hold of Ronaldo's effort.

Juventus fans are now Ronaldo fans.

Ronaldo stunned Real Madrid fans last month when he joined Juventus for an Italian league record sum of €112 million (NZ$194m).

Ronaldo will make his first appearance for the Serie A champions.
