Yes, firenados exist, and one hit England this week

In the horrifying footage, the "firenado" is seen swirling as firefighters rushed to the scene.

The fire was put out without causing any injuries or deaths.

While fighting a massive blaze on Tuesday, Leicestershire Fire and Rescue in England caught video of what it dubbed a "firenado".

"Whilst we were firefighting at Occupation Lane we witnessed a firenado or a fire whirl".

Group manager for the fire service, Steve Wells, said earlier: "We've received lots of calls this morning as people in the Swadlincote area have woken to the sight of a large black smoke plume".

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said it had spread to a building and forklift trucks on the site. They started damping down the fire at about 3pm.

The fire involved approximately 10,000 sq metres of stacked plastic pallets at the factory, which makes plastic crates for supermarkets.

The cyclonic vista was created by a combination of turbulent air and intense heat, and was tackled by officers from services in Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Staffordshire.

Factory owners David Meredith, 74, and his son Russell, 36, said three members of staff were in the factory at the time of the blaze but they escape unharmed.

"It was quite an intense fire, as you can see from the video", he told the Globe in a telephone interview Wednesday afternoon.
