Why you should never go down a slide with your child

Why you should never go down a slide with your child

What at first glance appears to be a playful family photo has actually captured the moment Meadow Clare's leg is bent the wrong way as she makes her way down the slide on the lap of her mum in a NY playground.

Clare, 35, had taken Meadow's twin brother, Matthew, down the slide first that day before putting Meadow in her lap for a ride. "There is no SAFE way to go down a slide with your little", she wrote in her latest post about the photo.

Heather Clare, a mother of three from NY, issued a warning on Sunday, June 24: Riding down slides with kids is unsafe. "I had no idea", Clare wrote in the Facebook post.

"Instead, the parent wants to stand next to the slide, hold the child on there about halfway up, and let the child go down while you're guarding them", said Torres.

"If I can take what happened to Meadow and take the pain that she felt and the guilt that I felt, and we can use that as an impetus to create change, that's what's the most important thing to me, " Clare said.

Clare rushed her daughter to the emergency room, where they found multiple fractures in the baby's right leg. She was centered on my lap. "I explain what happened to us and sometimes show them the picture if I have my phone with me", she revealed. "They really advise one person at a time down a slide".

Every year, Heather Clare posts a PSA to her Facebook page warning parents about the dangers of going down a slide with a child on their lap.

Clare told Newsweek: "I have shared it [the photo] every year since it happened in September 2015, but never publicly".

"I'm happy that I shared it because I feel that I've been able to reach so many more people".

Además, Nodal también se acercó a Miguel Layún , quien este 25 de junio celebra su cumpleaños, para poderle cantar las tan aclamadas 'Mañanitas', sin duda un momento que el futbolista jamás olvidará.

"Most responses have been positive".

Clare said she knew there was a problem when the photo was being taken.

Clare's doctor wasn't wrong.

Ultimately, Heather concludes the safest way for a child to go down a slide is alone, "if they are too young to do so, then they shouldn't ride the slide yet". According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, "an estimated 352, 698 children less than 6 years of age were injured on slide in the United States from 2002 through 2015, and many of those injuries were leg fractures". In January, celebrity mom Chrissy Teigen shared a photo of her and her then 21-month-old daughter going down the slide.

Unfortunately for baby Meadow, Heather's doctor was right.

"Many parents and caregivers go down a slide with a young child on their lap without giving it a second thought", explains Charles Jennissen, MD, Clinical Professor and Pediatric Emergency Medicine Staff Physician, University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine.

"And in most cases I have seen, the parents had no idea that doing so could possibly give their child such a significant injury. They often say they would have never done it had they known".
