The Orlando Police Department says one of its officers was shot while responding to a domestic violence call.

Orlando Police Chief John Mina told the Orlando Sentinel that the injured officer, who has not been identified, has undergone surgery.

At Orlando Regional Medical Center, Orange County corrections employee Thomas Newmann sat in the back of a black pickup truck with a waving Thin Blue Line flag in support of police. Residents of the neighboring apartment complexes had to show identification and be escorted by the police.
