Giuliani on Russia Probe: 'Jury Is the American People'

President Trump said "young and beautiful lives" have been destroyed by special counsel Robert Mueller's "Witch Hunt" investigation into Russian interference during the election and any collusion on the part of Trump campaign staffers.

"13 Angry Democrats, and all Dems if you include the people who worked for Obama for 8 years". The president has given conflicting reasons behind his consequential decision; Trump said in Comey's resignation letter that the FBI director was "not able to effectively lead the Bureau" and that his decision was based on the recommendation of Rosenstein and U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

The president did not specify whom he was referring to, but he has repeatedly referred to the Russia probe as a "witch hunt".

It's been obvious from practically the moment Giuliani joined Trump's legal team that he wasn't there to do law as much as PR, though.

"And in fact when I decided to just do it, I said to myself, I said, 'You know, this Russia thing with Trump and Russia is a made-up story, it's an excuse by the Democrats for having lost an election that they should have won, '" Trump said. "Democrats I would suggest for their own self interest, this is not a good issue to go into the midterms".

The presentation discusses how "bots" and fake news sites energized Trump voters. You shouldn't get involved in these investigations, leave it to the lawyers, leave it to the people outside the White House.

"They journeyed down to Washington, D.C., with stars in their eyes and wanting to help our nation. They went back home in tatters!" But I don't think that would matter.

"I think one of the problems is that we keep talking about a 'perjury trap, '" he continued. That, he said, would draw comparisons to President Richard Nixon's handling of the Watergate scandal. The so-called "perjury trap" is actually nothing more than asking Trump questions and ensuring he can answer truthfully. The Justice Department and F.B.I. offered essentially the same limited verbal briefing they had offered earlier this month - an offer ignored by Representative Devin Nunes of California, the Republican chairman of the House Intelligence Committee.

Speaking in an interview with Fox News Sunday, Giuliani described the ongoing Russia probe as being tainted by the revelation an FBI informant had spoken with members of Trump's campaign team, but dismissed the idea that people working on the probe would be canned.

News reports show that an FBI informant met with three campaign advisers to Trump in 2016.
