San Antonio Spurs: 3 takeaways from Game 1 vs. Warriors

The Golden State Warriors (1-0) go head-to-head with the San Antonio Spurs (0-1) at ORACLE Arena in game two of the First Round of the Western Conference Playoffs.

The 2018 NBA Playoffs are now well underway and Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant is in pursuit of his second title and the franchise's third in four seasons.

The Golden State Warriors didn't need Stephen Curry against the Spurs in Game 1.

Thompson (11-for-13) and Durant (9-for-17) combined to hit 20 of their 30 shots for the Warriors, who burned the Spurs' defense for 54.3 percent shooting.

Kevin Durant also had a terrific game, going for 24 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.

During the regular season, the Warriors ended up winning 58 games while losing 24. This year, he has been outspoken about the way the referees treat National Basketball Association players and if he has something to say, he makes sure everyone knows. "We wanted to get back to that, regardless of what everyone is saying: The Warriors have lost it, they are not together, they can't win without Steph, they're not the same team".

The Warriors have a significant talent edge in this series, so there's little reason to believe Game 2 will go much different than Game 1. Anderson finished the game with zero points and three rebounds in only 10 minutes on the court. We've got a few players that they don't guard, which makes it very hard getting shots and doing some things. McGee (two blocks) and Green (one) disrupted opponents at the rim.

He called Cohen a great attorney, but said none of their discussions ever included a third party and were centered on real estate. Cohen has said he paid the $130,000 to Daniels himself, was not reimbursed by Trump , and never even told Trump what he'd done.

Golden State is 2-3 ATS with 3 overs, 1 under and 1 push over their last five games.

"When we're playing, it's about us", Green said.

In Curry's absence Saturday, Kerr surprised many by starting Andre Iguodala at point guard over Quinn Cook.

The Spurs needed a dynamite performance from Aldridge after he scored just 14 points in Game 1 and was handcuffed by Warriors center JaVale McGee, who held Aldridge to 2-of-8 shooting as his primary defender. Aldridge can't get flustered by McGee, who is athletic but also uncontrolled.

Not many coaches are better at making game-to-game adjustments like Gregg Popovich, and there's no doubt the future Hall of Fame coach will come up with a better game plan heading into Game 2.

The total has gone over in four of San Antonio's last six games. The Warriors double-teamed Aldridge almost every time he touched the ball to start a possession, daring anyone else on the Spurs to beat them.

"We were just very overly excited, overzealous", San Antonio's Danny Green said. So you have to be able to count on that foundation, and I thought our defense was great, and that set the tone. The Spurs shot just 40 percent from the field and were out-rebounded 51 to 30.
