Hole in roof puts Blue Jays game at risk

Tonight, there was a weather-related postponement, but not one you see very often.

On Monday morning, it didn't seem like the night's game between the Kansas City Royals and Toronto Blue Jays was in danger of being postponed.

Police began receiving reports of falling ice around 10:30 a.m., with the CN Tower closing about an hour later.

The Toronto Blue Jays bragged about their domed stadium after a slew of rain-outs, only to have stadium troubles of their own force a cancellation. That ice then fell down on and around the nearby Rogers Center, causing safety concerns for fans.

Schools in Hamilton and Halton region were closed for the day, and the Toronto District School Board cancelled buses - though schools remained open. There will be a doubleheader on Tuesday. Further info for those with purchased tickets to the game will be shared shortly.

The 2018 Major League Baseball season has gotten off to a awful start for some teams stuck with bad weather, with cold winds and wet conditions already forcing 22 postponements just two weeks into the season.

As the calendar turns to May in a couple of weeks, hopefully the weather will improve and there will be less scheduling issues.
