The Dallas Cowboys have cut Dez Bryant.

Bryant, 29, signed a five-year, $70 million contract in 2015.

Dez Bryant has been released by the Dallas Cowboys, ending the wide receiver's eight-year stint with the team. He blamed injuries and a predictable offensive game plan for a pedestrian 2017 season - he finished with 69 catches, 838 yards, six touchdowns.

Bryant made it clear immediately after that this was a decision made exclusively by the Dallas organization and he didn't have a say in it.

"He will always be a valued member of our family", Jones said in his statement.

Where will Dez Bryant play football next?

"This was not an easy decision", Jones said.

'We arrived at this crossroad collectively with input from several voices within the organization.

Zuckerberg on sharing his personal info: 'Um, uh, no'
Three senators introduced privacy legislation on Tuesday that would require users' permission to collect and share their data. The 87 million Facebook users had their data harvested by a third-party app posing as a personality quiz.

Bryant spent eight seasons in Dallas, but his productivity the past few seasons had dropped and ultimately led to the team releasing him.

WASHINGTON REDSKINS: Of the NFC East rivals, Washington is the one that makes the most sense, as they've turned over the receiving corp from a year ago and added Alex Smith in place of Kirk Cousins.

Bryant has a $12.5 million base salary and a $16.5 million cap number for 2018, and has said that he is not willing to agree to a pay cut.

ESPN's Adam Schefter was the first to report that the team was going to release Bryant.

Mathieu is not the only player to make such a pitch to the three-time Pro Bowl player.

Bryant will still get a nice contract, however, it's been reported that he left team facilities saying he'll "see (you) guys twice a year", according to Jeff Kerr of 247 Sports. Alex Smith would be willing to sling it and give Bryant the opportunities to make plays; opportunities Bryant didn't get with Dallas in recent years. Their receiving corps struggled to get separation last season and it bogged down their passing game.

The former first round pick leaves the Cowboys as the franchise leader in touchdown receptions with 73, and their fifth all-time leading receiver with 7459 yards. In the past, it had been written off as a measure of Bryant's passion or the television cameras catching the receiver at an inopportune times, his actions taken out of context.
