Liverpool 'open talks with Man United midfielder Marouane Fellaini'

Liverpool have reportedly set their sights on a shock swoop for Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini.

Although Naby Keita's switch to Anfield is now imminent, it seems like the potential of another midfielder being drafted in this summer seems highly likely, but it won't be Fellaini.

The French publication says Liverpool are ready to offer the Belgian worldwide a lucrative three-year contract to make what would be a controversial move to Anfield this summer.

While any decision to swap Manchester for Liverpool would send shockwaves through the fanbases of both clubs, the towering United man will know he's only got one "big" contract left in him, and will no doubt be assessing his options ahead of the summer World Cup.

At first sight Fellaini might not appear to be a Jurgen Klopp type of player.

Mourinho remains hopeful United can thrash out a deal to keep Fellaini at Old Trafford, as he suggested his club will offer a lucrative new contract to the 30-year-old, who has spent large spells of this season out with injuries.

"The process - negotiations, numbers, distances between the offer and what he wants - I really don't know".

However, Liverpool aren't the only club in the race as the Mirror claims that Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain and Besiktas are also vying for Fellaini's signature this summer. The Liverpool Echo have confirmed what many on Merseyside would have taken for granted anyway, that Liverpool have no interest in bringing Fellaini to Anfield.

'If George stays here, I will be unbelievably happy.
