A Quiet Place tops box office in N. America

A Quiet Place tops box office in N. America

With near-universal critical and audience acclaim, it looks like A Quiet Place has made a serious impression on viewers.

The story follows a family who must live life in silence while hiding from creatures that hunt by sound, and the whole film was made for a rather reasonable $17 million. With its better-than-expected $50-million opening and an array of positive reviews, "A Quiet Place" should give the 2018 tally an early boost.

A Quiet Place was distributed by Paramount, who also owns the Cloverfield franchise.

The largely dialogue-free A Quiet Place is being heralded as an innovative blockbuster, and deservedly so - but does its clever concept reach its full cinematic potential? "It's just one of those movies that whenever you're going through the channels you just stop and you look".

This image released by Paramount Pictures shows Emily Blunt, left, and Millicent Simmonds in a scene from "A Quiet Place". In a recent interview with Cinema Blend, producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form confirmed it was never meant to be a stealth sequel, and they don't know where that theory came from.

"Game of Thrones" prepara su final con una maratónica y épica batalla
El rodaje de esta escena duplica en inversión de días a cualquiera de las batallas desarrolladas previamente en la serie. Por sobrevivir al frío, la nieve, la lluvia, la suciedad, las cacas de ovejas de Toome y los vientos de Magheramorne .

Screenwriters Bryan Woods and Scott Beck, who share writing credit for the horror filmwith director and star John Krasinski, have said the idea for the pic started with their admiration for the legends of silent cinema, such as Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton. "It's that zen thing of let life take you where it may and I never would have been here if I had gotten 'Captain America'". We shot it over the course of a week, and I asked John to schedule it. "I love those movies, but there's something about all that noise that assaults you, in a way".

Form: That's not our world.

"Man I want I had, that may have been a lot cooler if I had like tape of her auditioning for me", he mentioned. "I nearly hope it doesn't [happen] because I think sometimes when you sequel everything [it] kind of dilutes how special the original is". "AND GO SEE A QUIET PLACE", he wrote on Instagram.

The original Cloverfield was a unique take on the Kaiju genre, depicting a giant monster rampaging through a city from the viewpoint of citizens on the ground.

On the latter front, have many cited the nimbleness of producer Blumhouse Pictures, whose principal Jason Blum, keeps budgets low on these projects, then funnels the completed movies into venues where they stand a good chance of recouping that investment - from direct-to-Netflix plays for less commercially viable titles to the occasional breakout hit, like "Get Out" and "Paranormal Activity". "A Quiet Place" joins the ranks of recent horror breakouts such as "Annabelle: Creation", which opened with $35 million and finished with $102 million; "Get Out", which opened with $33 million before racking up $176 million; and "Split", which opened to $40 million on its way to amassing $138 million in ticket sales. And for those curious about the legacy of Jim from The Office, the movie's crowd over the weekend was larger than the audience for Krasinski's sitcom during its final season - which drew an average of 4 million per episode.
