Inactive McGregor stripped of 155-pound title

The ugly scenes followed White's announcement that this weekend's headline bout between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Max Holloway at UFC 223 will be for McGregor's lightweight championship.

Conor McGregor made a surprise appearance in NY on Thursday for UFC 223 fight week, and it didn't take long for things to get out of hand.

McGregor, the former UFC lightweight champion, and his entourage were in a loading area of the Barclays Center when bystander video appears to show him throwing a dolly at the window of a departing bus carrying other fighters.

Scarce details are available at this time, but we'll update this story when more is known. One of these guys [Nurmagomedov or Holloway] will be the champion.

We spoke with Dana White who tells us ...

Nothing about this UFC fight week feels normal. These two [Holloway and Nurmagomedov] are fighting for the belt. It's unclear if he will fight as planned at UFC 223.

McGregor gave a convoluted reaction to White's decision on Twitter: 'You's'll strip me of nothing you's do nothing c****'. The only one that's losing the belt here is Conor.

White said Wednesday that Saturday's fight will mark the end of the inactive McGregor's title as lightweight champion.

Nurmagomedov, a front-runner to be McGregor's next opponent, had a run-in with Artem Lobov earlier this week, threatening him if he ever spoke his name again.

Obviously, McGregor disagrees and he'll have plenty to say about that when he finally makes his return to action later this year. "I think the fact that the division is moving on has lit a fire under him and he wants to fight". McGregor then went on to defeat Diego Brandao, Dustin Poirier, Dennis Siver, Chad Mendes and Jose Aldo via (T) KO.
