Jose Mourinho happy with Man Utd players after Champions League exit

Jose Mourinho happy with Man Utd players after Champions League exit

Despite needing a win to advance - aside from a penalty shootout - Mourinho started two holding midfielders in Nemanja Matic and Marouane Fellaini.

It was such a massive disappointment. Instead, they showed nothing.

But, whoever you are, there is also a way to lose games, especially at home. No way are you going to change my mentality.

They did not show enough passion or commitment to win the game, and they got the result they deserved.

"I don't want the fans to have low expectations, I want the fans to have high expectations because I want the players to have expectations, too".

The Portuguese has faced severe criticism over his tactics in the wake of United's dismal Champions League last-16 exit to Sevilla on Tuesday.

I honestly did not know what United's gameplan was.

Jose Mourinho has offered a staunch defence of his record as Manchester United boss by suggesting that the club has no right to be competing in the latter stages of the Champions League.

"So, in seven years with four different managers, once not qualify for Europe, twice out in the group phase and the best was the quarter-final". He has won the competition twice.

Jenas added: "To add to their worries, Sanchez is not performing well at all, but he'll get time to compose himself and get his form together, because we all know he's not playing anywhere near his ability".

Ferdinand had sympathy for isolated striker Romelu Lukaku, who pulled a goal back in the 84th minute.

But the tie was lost at Old Trafford because the level of performance United produced there was nowhere near good enough.

National Basketball Association stars react to Michigan's win against Houston
Texas A&M game in Los Angeles on Thursday. "Credit Houston", Michigan coach John Beilein said after the game. And thanks to the legendary shot by Jordan Poole, the Wolverines are back in the Sweet 16.

United won the Europa League, League Cup and Community Shield in his first season, but the FA Cup is now the only silverware they can realistically achieve this time out.

The goalkeeper, who was on the verge of signing for Los Blancos in 2015 only for a last-minute administrative error to foil the transfer, remains on Madrid's radar as they weigh up their options going forward.

"You have to give the fans something to shout about. The person told me I did a fantastic job in another club and at this club I have a huge job and I come for the challenge". Out in the group phase in 2013, out at Old Trafford in the last 16, I was on the other bench [with Real Madrid].

But when he came on, he was lethargic and his passing was poor.

"And other clubs are not ready to win, and one thing is to develop a process, to go for the jugular, and another thing is to build a different process".

That has nothing to do with his price tag, because any professional footballer of any standard should not be doing that. "I beat Liverpool, I beat Chelsea, I lose against Sevilla and now is there a moment to be happy".

"[It is an] Easy life if the fans not upset and no critics, but that's not good because if you want to make a real top team with a top mentality, the team needs to grow up". In both of the cup eliminations that United have suffered this season, they entered as big favorites. If they don't, then this campaign will be seen as a backwards step.

"They keep spending money, keep spending loads of money, and we keep saying they're three or four players away", Scholes said.

"The fans will be sad at being out, with the players", Mourinho added.

The Guardian's Barney Ronay labeled United "limp" and said the players weren't being allowed to perform at their best given Mourinho's defensive approach. I couldn't tell you.

"That's football heritage and one day when I leave, the next Manchester United manager will find here [Romelu] Lukaku, [Nemanja] Matic, of course [David] De Gea from many years ago".
