Raiders release CB Sean Smith, RT Marshall Newhouse

He will be sentenced to one year in jail and five years of probation. This image reflects the Oakland Raiders active roster as of Monday, June 13, 2016 when this image was taken. He will plead guilty Tuesday to a felony count of assault with great bodily injury in connection with an altercation in Pasadena previous year, according to the attorney for the alleged victim.

Back in August, Sean Smith was arrested on a felony assault charge for an alleged altercation that occurred on Independence Day after he brutally attacked Christopher Woods.

The move clears $8.5 million in 2018 salary cap space for the Raiders, two days before the start of free agency.

Turning 31 in July, Smith never lived up to the massive four-year, $40 million pact he signed two offseasons ago, a deal that included $20 million guaranteed.

Midlands police investigate 'Punish a Muslim day' letters
A document by Tell MAMA suggested how one " Muslim Slayer " reportedly targeted mosques in London and the U.S.in 2017. The letters included an image of a sword and the St George's flag beside the words "kill scum Muslims".

The Raiders rumors surrounding the future of cornerback Sean Smith and the Oakland Raiders has been cloudy this offseason. Last season, he lost his starting job to TJ Carrie before becoming one of the Raiders' better defenders in the last month of the season.

"Nothing has changed on my end", Smith told ESPN the last week of the season.

Newhouse started 14 games last season for the Raiders but new coach Jon Gruden said at the combine that the play at right tackle last season was inconsistent.

Smith first reached the National Football League as a member of the Miami Dolphins and spent the first four years of his career as their starting cornerback.
