Dolphins to release DT Suh

Suh will reportedly be released two days before the NFL's league year begins on Wednesday.

Earlier this month the Dolphins agreed to trade star wide receiver Jarvis Landry to the Cleveland Browns for a 2018 fourth round pick and a 2019 seventh round pick.

Suh's career with Miami was a mixed bag after signing a monster six-year, $114 million contract with the team in 2015.

Suh's release is not a complete surprise, but the timing was always in question. The 31-year-old played in all 16 games for Miami in 2017, recording 4.5 sacks and 29 tackles. Drafted second overall out of the University of Nebraska in 2010, the interior beast was a dominant force with the Lions for five seasons.

Last offseason, the Dolphins signed Timmons to a two-year, $12 million contract as he was expected to shore up the team's linebacker unit.

Buffalo could address one of their holes in free agency. Suh remains a tremendous player. Three times has Suh made the National Football League playoffs.

Despite his age and relative ineffectiveness over the last few seasons, Suh will immediately become one of the top names on the market once released. He'll be joining a crowded Philadelphia defensive line that already includes Fletcher Cox, Brandon Graham, Chris Long and Derek Barnett. The move will free up roughly $17 million in salary cap space if Suh is designated as a post-June 1 cut, otherwise it will save just $3.9 million if it happens now.

In addition to Robinson, the Eagles' free agents are Blount, Nigel Bradham, Trey Burton, Darren Sproles, Beau Allen, Corey Graham, Kenjon Barner, Caleb Sturgis, Bryan Braman, Jaylen Watkins, Will Beatty, Najee Goode, and Dannell Ellerbe.
