Xiaomi expected to launch Redmi 5 on March 14; features, availability, pricing


While Mi Mix 2S is a high-end smartphone, the company seems to be working on an entry-level device as well.

It is now secret that Xiaomi has been teasing a new smartphone launch in the country from the day when it launched new Mi TVs. It helped the device score 1,155 points in the single-core test, while it scored 2,738 points in the multi-core test. Roland Quandt, in his tweet, mentioned that the processor will have eight cores and the details mentioned on Geekbench are flawed.

To recall, the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus were announced in China back in December 2017. A leaked document has revealed the likely price of the Redmi Note 5 China Edition and it is cheap! This could change on March 14 going by Xiaomi's hints. The next Redmi smartphone coming to India is the Xiaomi Redmi 5.

The device comes with a 5.7-inch screen with an HD+ resolution. It also has a lower-capacity 3300mAh battery and Snapdragon 450 SoC. And now the company has unveiled more affordable series of the smart television the Mi TV 4A.

Vu Televisions will be hosting an event in Bengaluru to launch the Android-based television. Devices running the MIUI China Developer/ Global Beta ROM (8.3.1) or MIUI 9.5 and above, will get to experience the new features. The new system-on-chip, however, will come with better support and optimisation for dual camera set up.

At the core of all three models is PatchWall, the Android-based UI that powers the AI-based smart functions of the Mi TV range. Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor, 12 MP rear camera, and 5 MP front camera.

Connectivity options on the 43-inch Mi TV 4A include Wi-Fi, three HDMI (one ARC) ports, three USB 2.0 ports, one Ethernet port, one AV component port, one S/PDIF audio port, one antenna port, as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack port. It measures 970x613x214mm (including base), and weighs 7.43kg (7.37kg without base).

The 43 inch Smart TV has been priced at Rs 22,999 and the 32 inches Smart TV is priced at just Rs 13,999/- which is quite market changing for the Indian market. Xiaomi is also touting the presence of DTS-HD audio support. Isn't that amazing if it turns out to be true?
