Eddie Jones would make Australia shortlist if Michael Cheika left - Ben Whitaker

Eddie Jones would make Australia shortlist if Michael Cheika left - Ben Whitaker

Seven weeks after Eddie Jones signed for an extra two years as England coach, his home nation Australia has declared that they wouldn't mind him working for them instead.

With England's NatWest 6 Nations hopes hanging by a thread, this is unwelcome speculation.

"There is very heavy rain forecast and we all know the Stade de France is a heavy pitch anyway", added Jones. "No one is indispensable". If you ask any coach who has coached at a high level they would say the same. No one is dispensable.

"Same as me, I am not indispensable". No one is indispensable; the players understand that.

"They have got to play and perform so who is at 10 and 12 will be done on who we feel is the best for that game".

"Possibly the weather conditions could dictate a horses for courses selection". While he confirmed Dylan Hartley would continue to lead the team at the Stade de France, the head coach appears to be considering some changes to the starting XV.

"With heavy rain it will be even heavier, so it will be a "slogathon". He puts his hand up time after time but you know what you're going to get from him and I think, after the complete pasting we took at the breakdown last time out, it's time to be bold.

"England have done well under the hooker's leadership: 24 wins from 26 test matches is a formidable record".

It is being reported Down Under that Eddie Jones is still favoured by Rugby Australia - with the Aussies keen on Jones returning to his native country.

"It is usually a thought in my head so I go into the office and start sending texts and emails to various staff members saying 'what do you think of this?' Some of them reply straight away".

I don't see there being as many changes as I'd be inclined to make but I do think those alterations to the midfield might happen because we got opened up there a couple of times against Scotland and Jones has spoken about the physicality of the French in that department. If I had any anxiety I would be dead. "We're in a high performance environment. means you've got to perform". I am being serious.
