Austrian media report that several people have been injured in a knife attack on the streets of Vienna.

The first attack, which occurred at 7:45 pm, took place just outside a local Japanese restaurant near the Nestroy metro station which was shut down during the search for the attacker who fled the scene.

All victims are said to be in critical condition following both incidents. "Whether there is a connection with the bodily injury in the area of #Praterstrasse is the subject of the investigation", Vienna police said in a tweet.

East Timorese Minister Agio Pereira said the deal was "equitable" and "consistent with worldwide law". The two sides and the Sunrise joint venture have not yet agreed on a way to develop Greater Sunrise.

The victims were an Austrian family; a 67-year-old father, 56-year-old mother and their 17-year-old daughter.

Half an hour later, another person was attacked at the nearby Praterstern transport hub.

The police spokesman said the unidentified knifeman was being hunted by officers, and that the motive and exact circumstances were as yet unknown. When asked what was known about the assailant during the manhunt, Maierhofer said, "Absolutely nothing". It has been reported that a male citizen of Afghanistan was later arrested in connection with the second assault but so far there are no other details provided.
